Kids do the sweetest things.

I picked up Little Prince today after school today and as usual when it’s been his father’s weekend I haven’t seen him since I dropped him off at school Friday morning. I stood at the end of the aisle in the cafeteria and spotted him coming towards me. He ran up and hugged me tight and then backed up a little bit. He said, “Mommy I have a note for you…” He handed me a folded up piece of paper and I opened it. It has one sentence on it.

I love you Mom a lot.

It made my day :)

Things Change, I’m random and this is nothing new

Monday, July 20th, 2009

I know some would look at that title and give a big old “duh”, but some don’t realize that things can change on a dime. Clouds shift and change moment to moment. People can do the same thing. One minute everything can seem peaceful and quiet and then next everything has been turned upside down. Even knowing this sometimes it still catches me off guard. Some changes are harder then others. Some we don’t want to accept even though we have to. I’ve had a few of those kind of changes recently and even if I don’t like them…I know there is nothing I can do to physically change it. Broken promises and plans…again nothing can be done to change it. But there is always the slight sting left behind from it. Sometimes the worst part of it is you don’t know why. You may ask about it…but you are met with silence as your answer. I’ve learned over the course of my life that sometimes silence is the answer. Maybe they are too ashamed to give you an answer or maybe they just don’t have one. Perhaps they don’t even know the answer themselves.

All that being said I know everything happens for a reason. Everyone we cross paths with in life has a purpose or reason for being in our life. Whether it’s someone you bump into on the street, someone you meet online or one of your closest friends. They all have a purpose. Sometimes it hurts to see those people leave and others you are just happy to see them go. Then there are even other times that you are happy when they come back.

I’m not sure where I was going with other then I’m rambling. I’ve had a few tarot readings lately that have been REALLY accurate and have also pointed a few things out to me. Even knowing something is coming doesn’t make the wait for it to happen any easier. If it wasn’t for other things outside of the cards pointing to it I probably would have brushed it off. Vague enough for you?

Anyway onto happier things. Little Prince went for an ADHD evaluation and it’s looking like that’s what it is. The meds seem to be helping him but he seems to be a little more sensitive lately. I have a phone appointment with his doctor on Friday and I’m planning on talking to him about it. Overall though I’m happy to see the change in him. Watching him focus more and not get as frustrated with some things is a definite plus.

Mister Man is doing well this summer too. He’s reading The Hobbit now and really liking it. He acts like he hates it when I make him read but then he’ll get lost in the story and I’ll have to interrupt for dinner or something like that.

Even better news is Big Daddy and I are going to get a vacation. An actual vacation with no kids. Thanks to some wonderful friends of ours it’s all taken care of too. It never ceases to amaze me how some people look out for their friends. It was pointed out that Big Daddy and I never really got a honeymoon. Well we went to the beach for a week about 6 months after we were married but that was with family. (And by family I mean 37 other family members on his father’s side…kids and all) We had a blast but it wasn’t a honeymoon. Anyway with the stress of the last year and a half we hadn’t thought about it but they did…and thanks to them we are going to Dragon Con Yes in 45 days hubby and I are going to geek out for an entire weekend with some great friends and thanks to some great friends.

It’s my party and I’ll eat if I want to…

It’s weekly weigh in time again. And this week I fully expected to have gained again. Not only did one of my specialists mess with my meds (a water pill) this weekend we seemed to be eating out constantly. My parents were here for the weekend and they took us out to dinner. They said I could go anywhere I wanted. Trust me when I say I wanted to go to a different place but I was somewhat good about my choice. I picked Applebees figuring that they have the Weight Watchers stuff on the menu. We all ended up getting the two for $20 deal and I had a steak and lots of veggies. So I was core-ish that night…lol.

Sunday night we went to Golden Corral with the in laws. Okay definitely not my favorite but my rationalization was that they had the huge salad bar and I could eat somewhat healthy. Needless to say I was almost good. But I had some yummy mashed potatoes with gravy and two rolls. I fully expected to get on the scale and at the very least not have lost anything and most likely gained. It was quite a surprise when I saw that I had lose 2.6 pounds.

We’ll see how today affects the rest of the week with my weight. We took Little Prince to school this morning and Big Daddy took me out to breakfast at IHoP. (definitely filling but not core) We went to watch Big Daddy’s niece Ariel recite a poem at Barnes and Noble. They were having a fundraiser there for the school. It was nice to see all the kids getting up and reading. Afterward we went to ChickFilA and had dinner with everyone again. Needless to say that was definitely not a core meal. Tomorrow night we are all going to a play at the Little Prince’s school. Seems like we are seeing family constantly the last few days. Not that this is a bad thing…

You can’t have salad until you finish dessert

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

This past weekend was a child free weekend with us. It was oddly quiet and almost creepy at times. I mean even after the kids are in bed I usually hear the occasional night time bathroom trip or something, but no it was quiet. Big Daddy had some free hockey tickets fall into his lap the weekend before for Friday night. So with no kids we had a double date night with his sister and her hubby. It was Triple A Hockey but it was still a good game. Actually ended with a shootout so it wasn’t boring to say the least.

How were we child free you ask? Well this weekend was Little Prince’s weekend with his Dad and Mister Man…well he was kidnapped by some good friends of ours. Their son Lucas* is a year younger then Mister Man and they are best friends. We finally got Mister Man back yesterday. When we got him back it was already dinner time so we all decided to go to Cici’s Pizza. Not exactly the best choice for the diet but hey if I’m gonna fall off the bike I may as well get all scraped up before I get back on right? We were sitting there eating and talking. The kids were talking and eating and still having a good time. When Allie* (the Mom) looks over at Kayla* (their daughter) and says “I’m sorry Princess but you can’t have any salad until you finish your dessert.” Okay about this time Big Daddy, Tim* (the Dad) and I all look at each other before we look at Allie completely confused. We all laughed and Kayla went along eating her dessert. She eventually went back and got some salad after she was done.

Needless to say it was a nice evening hanging out over dinner and talking even if it was a quick impromptu one. We made plans to play in a Magic tournament at the end of the month together. I’m looking forward to that…although I’m quite rusty.

Check back tomorrow for our customer service nightmare while at Cici’s

Monday Weigh in

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Again another week has come and gone. Honestly I was really bad this past week and I was barely on Twitter if at all. I didn’t read blogs. Hell I didn’t do much of anything. So I have a lot of catching up to do now. I’ve done some meditating though and pulled mine and Sadie’s oracle cards for the new moons of this year.

Yesterday I took the boys shopping for shoes that they needed. Mister Man is definitely turning into a man. He’s wearing what will probably be his last “kids” shoe. He moves into the adult sizes after this. Little Prince got a pair of Sketchers because he wanted to be like his big brother (granted his brother got Nikes since Sketchers don’t come in his size anymore but that didn’t seem to bother Little Prince.

The boys helped take the tree down yesterday. Yes our Christmas tree was still up. With my surgery and everything else going on. There was a suggestion made that we just take the ornaments off and put little hearts all over it and make it a Valentine’s Tree. Then take those off and put Shamrocks all over it. Something for each holiday. I just opted to take it down and put it all away until November again. The idea was tempting though.

My Birthday is quickly approaching and I don’t know why this year it’s making me feel so old. It’s not a 5 or a 0 year. For the first time in my life I’m actively working on getting myself in better shape in a safe way and not a crash “divorce diet”. I’m making steady progress towards my goal. And yet I still feel like I’ve been hit by a truck most days. It’s days like this that I wish Tara still lived close by and I could hang out with her. (She has an infections energy that will leave you buzzing after hanging out with her) She was the one that taught me I was more of a fire then a water. Can’t seem to get the fire going lately though…except in small bursts.

Anyway enough of the depressing crap on to the weight. I’m down to 206.4!!! Another 2.4 lbs!! That puts me at 15lbs lost now. Slowly but surely getting there. Big Daddy said he can see it in my face. I can actually feel it in my clothes, although I can’t see it like he does. I can actually pull my current jeans down over my hips without unbuttoning them! I briefly entertained the idea of making a video to show it off like Lotus but I’m not quite that brave. :) Little Prince, Mister Man and I made the Chocolate Chip cookies from Chubbie Chica. It was one of her 12 Days of Christmas Cookies recipes. I think we are going to try the Ginger Snap ones next. But the Chocolate Chip cookies were WONDERFUL! And only 1 point!! The kids loved them too.

Well that’s it for me today. Let’s hope I can get my rear in gear long enough to do some more posting this week. I have a book review I need to post as well. But I’m struggling with how bad the book really was.

Birthday Parties, Bloody Noses and Dishwasher mishaps

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

So yesterday I posted pictures from Mister Man’s birthday party. As you can tell it had a dragon theme. It was his 12th birthday (His actual birthday isn’t until later this week) and thankfully for me he wanted to have it at home. It was really small just family and friends that are as close as family. My Mom made baked ziti. I made Dragon eye cookies. We had Dragon Snot Punch again, which you see me blowing on the smoke from in the pictures. (Yeah that’s me…scary huh? lol) The party itself went off great. The kids had a blast. The adults had a good time. Mister Man loved the presents he got. All in all a good time was had by all.

Flash Back to Saturday night preparing for the party. The kids were BEYOND hyper. Of course Nana and Poppy were there so that was one reason. We were baking cookies and Big Daddy was putting together Mister man’s cake so that was another. But it was finally bedtime and I got them upstairs. I got them all tucked in. We read our book for the night. I got up and kisses the Little Prince. I walked over to kiss Mister Man. He was laying on his stomach so I placed my hand lightly on his butt so he would know I was leaning down to kiss him and he wouldn’t be startled. It backfired and it actually startled him. His head came flying up and nailed me in the nose. I immediately saw stars and tears started pouring down my face. He flew out of his bed and turned the light on and there was blood pouring from my nose. Poor kid was so shaken up he started crying. He still feels bad. He gave his mother a bloody nose. Thankfully I didn’t get a black eye. but one side of my nose is still swollen.

Before the party my Dad was trying to help out and while my Mom and I ran to a few stores he ran the dishwasher. When we got back he was unloading it and looked down confused because the door that holds the dishwasher liquid was closed. He popped it open and the little Electrosol pellet was still it in…still wrapped in the plastic. He held it up for all of us to see. Needless to say my Dad forgot one…that the little door inside on my dishwasher isn’t working and we need to call the repair guy and two to take off the plastic on the tablet so that it would actually help clean the dishes. Needless to say it wasn’t realized until the majority of the dishes had been put away…

It will eat ya alive if you let it.

So in my last post I mentioned feeling guilty for something that was out of my control. It’s been in the back of my mind nagging me to talk about it more. I was thinking that there have to be other that deal with this stuff and maybe could give some insight. My oldest…Mister Man. Hasn’t seen his bio Dad in over three months. It’s nothing I’ve done. Not like I’ve cut him off or anything. He’s just missed every visit. Cancels at the last minute, Makes excuses. Or sometimes just doesn’t even show. The usual excuse is money. That if he would make the trip it would take food out of his kids mouths. Um. Last time I checked Mister Man was his kid too! *insert heavy sigh* Yeah this is where the frustration and guilt kicks in. I know deep down there’s nothing I can do about it. Nothing I can do to change it. I can’t FORCE Screwball1 to come see him. But it’s a once a month visit. You would think he would want to see his son. This is where the guilt really kicks in. The Little Prince sees his Dad all the time. (we have a screwy custody schedule and yes I have two kids with two different Dad. Took me 13 years to figure out I deserved a non abusive man :p) So Mister Man watches his brother here come and go and talk about seeing his Dad. Hell Screwball2 talks to Mister Man more then Screwball1 does. I’m at a loss now. Thanksgiving is supposed to be Screwball1’s holiday. But when he tried to change the plans that were already made and I told him no…he hung up on me. Before he even talked to Mister Man. We called back and he refused to answer. That was almost three weeks ago. We haven’t heard from him since. He won’t answer his phone or return calls. Even if Mister Man leaves a message. I am BEYOND frustrated now.

Manic Monday

So I completely shot NaBlo since I couldn’t seem to get out any pre written posts. Oh well. There is always next year. My parents were here this weekend which is always fun, The kids had a blast. I went shopping with my Mom, my Dad took Mister Man to his golf lesson. He even went on a golf field trip with Mister Man and his PE class on Friday. My Mom and I took the Little Prince to a birthday party on Saturday too. Saturday night we played Chicken foot with the kids. Again they had a blast. Granted the Little Prince let go of a domino a little sooner then he should of and it went flying across the table and nearly hit my Dad in the forehead. After we were sure Dad was okay we all started laughing. Kids went to bed and parents, Big Daddy and I watched a Hall and Oats special after the kids were in bed. My god can that man sing!

All in all it was a good weekend but I just can’t seem to recover. I’m still exhausted. Even with going to bed early and nodding on the couch. I hope I’m not getting a cold or something.

So much to do…

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

…so little time it seems. This week we have a PTA Sock Hop at Mister Man’s school that the whole family is going to. The kids should have fun and hey…it’s a free dinner. My parents are coming this weekend which means I need to prewrite some posts for my blog while they are here. They are getting in about 9:30 Thursday night. My Dad is going on a field trip with Mister Man and his gym glass. They are learning about golf right now. It should be fun and Mister Man is excited that his Poppy if going to school with him. Saturday while Mister Man is at his golf lesson I need to take the Little Prince to a birthday party. I wish it had been the one he went to this week since I know that kid’s Mom and like her. I don’t know this kid’s parents. I’m sure the Little Prince will have fun though. It’s laser tag. What little boy doesn’t have fun with that.

Mister Man’s Birthday is fast approaching. We asked him tonight what “theme” or cake he wanted. He wants a dragon. Yeah this should be interesting. The only Wilton pan that had a dragon was done in 1984. I found it on ebay…but it’s 60 bucks. Yeah that’s not happening. So it’s time to get creative. I’m debating on if I’m going to attempt fondant again. My last adventure with it left me more stressed then I should have been. Hopefully we will get it figured out though. I’m sure with Big Daddy’s help it will come out awesome. Granted if it does I’m sure the Little Prince will be asking for one for his birthday too. The only other thing he’s asking for is Dragon Snot Punch which I made last year. The kids loved it. It was green sherbet, sprite and dry ice. They all through the bubbling and smoking was awesome. Now to come up with crafts for the kids to do.

Kids say the Darndest things Part two

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

So yesterday I shared two stories of some of the things that has been coming out of the kids mouths lately. Today I have two more for you…

The first week of school was pretty uneventful I have to say. My parents came to visit and so on Friday when it came time to go pick up the Little Prince my Mom went with me. We went in and picked him up and as we were walking back to the car my Mom is talking to him about his first week of school.

Nana: So how was school today?
Little Prince: Good. Nana I have THREE girlfriends!
Nana: I know! Mommy told me. Don’t you think you should get it down to one? I mean what are you playing the field or something?”
Little Prince: (Looking up at his Nana clearly confused) No Nana I was playing by myself.

Do you know how hard it is to stay upright on crutches when you are trying that hard not to laugh?

So during their visit the Little Prince wanted to play the Wii and show his Nana how good he was at one of the games. So he’s playing. I’m in the kitchen, Big Daddy is on his computer and Poppy has Mister Man off at his golf lessons. (Yes my 11 1/2 year old plays golf. It’s all my parents fault.) Out of no where we hear the following coming from the living room.

Little Prince: I’M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS!
*queue record screeching to a halt*
Nana: I’m sorry what did you say?
Little Prince: (Looking at her clearly confused as to why she seemed upset) I said I’m gonna kick his ass Nana.
Nana: (not sure if she should laugh or scold him at this point) Well that’s not a very nice word. You shouldn’t say that. Maybe try I’m gonna kick his butt…or I’m gonna kick his hynee
Little Price: (very large heavy sigh) It’s just not the same

Yeah it was one of those moments that you don’t know if you should laugh…or yell. Needless to say we had a talk about words he shouldn’t use. Now to wait and see what else comes out of their mouths
