I was doing my daily blog roaming and made my morning stop over at Imaginary Binky Sarah has got a great post today over at her site about misheard Lyrics. Some of them had me rolling on the floor. Seriously…go check out what her husband Phil thought the lyrics to Venus by Bananarama was. I almost spit my water out on my monitor.

It started me thinking about a standard joke in my family. My Dad always used to tease my Nanny that she was going deaf when he would say something and she would as him to repeat it. Which lead to an old joke about a misheard line of “Tickle your ass with a feather?” What was really said was “Particularly nasty weather” I’m not sure exactly where it came from but it always used to crack me up. So now anytime someone miss hears something there is always someone who is going to be a smart ass and blurts out “tickle your ass with a feather.” Which with my new hearing issues I can now understand why half the time my Nanny looked like she was about to smack my father upside his head with her cane.

So my parents were here this weekend for the lil one’s 6th birthday party. I’m sitting here at the computer with ice on my knee while my Mom, Dad and Aunt are watching a Disney movie with the kids. I had seen it a million times so I was spared thankfully. All of a sudden I hear my Mom yell out, “What do you mean he’s gay” Followed by the older one saying, “Um Nana..I said he’s okay…” Well everyone starts laughing. During the next commercial break again I hear my Mom, “The Shitty Girls?” I dropped my ice off my knee and hobbled my ass into the living room. The oldest was talking about how he was looking forward to the Cheetah Girls movie. So yeah there were a few things that got misheard this weekend.

But what fun would it be if we always heard everything correctly the first time. I leave you with one of my favorite misheard videos…
