Weekly Weigh in

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

The time seems to be flying by. I can’t believe how fast it is going. Where did March go? Ostara has come and gone and I haven’t been able to get my head to stop spinning. Ideas and organization needs seem to be swirling through my brain like crazy. It’s putting them into action that seems to be the issue. But Ostara passing means Beltane is coming. One of my favorite holidays (hubby’s too) The veil is thin between here and the Summerland.

As for my weight…well I am down to 203.6 Almost a half a pound. Not much but it’s something. The past month has been filled with family parties and get togethers. All of which I haven’t eaten the best at. But the weather is getting warmer so I’m hoping to be able to get out and go walking with my neighbor.

Coming Home: Military Families Cope With Change

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

I was watching twitter tonight as I usually do and a twitter came through from John Mayer. I had started following him on there because not only do I like his music but at least once a night he twitters something that makes me giggle. (okay who am I kidding the guy is a complete hottie but that’s not the point at the moment) Tonight he twittered this:

I don’t ask often, but please tune in. It’s one of the most important things I have been (and will be) involved in http://bit.ly/SCXAP

He and Queen Latifah are working with Sesame Street and really I can’t say it any better then the description on you tube so here it is.

This half-hour special tells stories of service members who return home with injuries, visible and invisible, and explores the heroic struggles their families face in discovering a new way of finding a new normal. It salutes the extraordinary courage and strength of these military families and offers the general public a powerful glimpse into what they often must endure.

The special airs on April 1, 2009 on PBS at 8PM. If your kids aren’t up that late…that’s what DVRs and TIVO were invented for (there’s always an old fashioned VCR too…they still make them…I’ve seen them)

New beginnings…Ostara

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Seems like this year has flown and it was just yesterday that I was posting about Ostara and New Beginnings. It’s that time again. Everything is waking up. Flowers are starting to come up and bloom. (Well except my Crocus plants. They decided to come up through the snow we had not too long ago. This is the time of year that I start to wake up again creatively. I seem to mellow out and move inward right after Samhain and then it starts to come back around Ostara and really kicks into high gear around Beltane. Then again really. Who doesn’t love Beltane?

Anyway it’s a time for new beginnings. Sadie and I are currently working on a new project together that I cannot wait to share with everyone. We are getting closer to being able to reveal it to everyone. And that makes me very happy.

I hope everyone has a safe and Blessed Ostara.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

I know I missed my weigh in post yesterday but I was bogged down with a few things. One Sadie got me extremely addicted to the House of Night Series and I read all five books starting on Friday and finishing yesterday. Yes it’s VERY addicting!!

I’ve been struggling lately and it’s not something I’ll probably post a lot about since it’s very personal. All I will say right now is that having a loved one with Alzheimer’s sucks beyond all belief. Dealing with it and trying to stay strong in front of the kids without breaking down and crying is touch. I’m emotional…I’m a Pisces what can I say.

As far as my weight. I stayed the same. No real change here. Seems I’ve hit a slight plateau. Need to correct that so I can keep going down.

On a final note this video was being tweeted around and what better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day then with a rendition of Danny Boy

Weekly Weigh in

Monday, March 9th, 2009

This is going to be short my brain is honestly elsewhere at the moment. Working on a project and trying to get everything straight for it so that I can post it here. I’m very excited about it and cannot wait to share! Anyway on to the weigh in. No change this week. I know it’s going to happen from time to time. And I’m okay with that. I just try harder this week and see where we go. There’s a big party at my parents house this weekend for St. Patrick’s Day so we’ll see how good I can be. St. Patrick’s Day is like a National holiday in my family. Anyway I hope everyone has a good week and I will try and update again soon :)

The The Impotence of Proofreading

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

I haven’t posted a video in awhile and this one seemed appropriate today. Mister Man has to design and make a game for his Advanced Math class in the next week and a half. He has been working on it a little each day while he’s been home for snow days. Big Daddy has been reading through his rules trying to help him see where his mistakes are and tweak it a little so it makes sense (Yes I know a twelve year old making sense is a lot to ask. Anyway he had written a few double words and it immediately made me think of this. Enjoy :)

Insert catchy title about weightloss here

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Currently my muse seems to be on vacation. She’s been plotting and working on something behind my back that is being worked on behind the scenes. It will probably be a little bit before it’s revealed since it’s going to take some work to get together but I’m excited it about it nonetheless.

Anyway onto the weight. This week was pretty good. I admit that while playing in the tournament on Saturday I had a little personal pizza with broccoli. It’s veggies right? Okay so not exactly core but it was small and dang it all I wanted pizza. Needless to say I got on the scale this morning and was down to 204 lbs. That’s down 2.4lbs!! I’m quite happy with that and I’m very happy to see that little ticker move. I’m only four pounds away from that 200 mark. I’m so excited!
